Seth Burk is a composer, music director, and educator based in Lansing, Michigan. His work spans choral music and musical theatre, blending thoughtful storytelling with a wide-ranging musical voice that can be both deeply moving and playfully humorous.
Seth’s choral music is published by Alliance Music Publishing and Santa Barbara Music Publishing. His catalog includes works for ensembles ranging from middle school choirs to advanced professional groups, reflecting his passion for creating meaningful repertoire that is both artistically engaging and accessible to performers at many levels.
Seth also works as a composer/lyricist for musical theatre productions. His work spans multiple genres and audiences, including writing music for Rob Roznowski's Be.Longing, an exploration of identity which was featured at the inaugural International Theatre Festival at the American University of Sharjah, and The STEAM Plays: Using the Arts to Talk about STEM received support from the Humanities and Arts Grant Proposal System and the STEAMpower Fellowship to tour elementary schools across Michigan.
Seth is in demand as a music director and coach. He has received the Thespie Award for Best Music Direction from the Lansing State Journal and the Sutton Foster Award for Best Music Direction from the Wharton Center for the Performing Arts. As Director of Vocal Music at Holt High School, he leads a thriving choral program whose ensembles consistently earn superior ratings while helping students develop into confident, expressive musicians—many of whom have gone on to pursue professional careers in the performing arts.
